On the Street: Mater from Pixar’s Cars movie is at Water and Alexander street, Gastown.
Very cute.
A Vancouver Travelogue
Celebrated the start (and longest day) of summer with a free music festival in Gastown.
Fete dela Musique or Make Music Vancouver had over 200 bands play yesterday along West Cordova and Water Street. By the time I made my way to Gastown the party was in full swing. Bands were playing on the sidewalk and the crowd extended to the streets.
The crowd was kept relatively safe from oncoming traffic by Fete dela Musique volunteers who formed human barricades. It would have been better if they shut the street, but either way it was a great event to kick-start summer!
I took this photo in Water Street, Gastown. If you’re a sucker for love like I am, go further into the DTES and you can find more professions of love. In fact you will not only find a singular “I” that loves you, but a collective “we”.
Megaphone wrote lengthily about the “I Love You” and “We Love You” tags that have sprung up here: Who Loves You, Baby? Explaining Vancouver’s most ubiquitous graffiti.
Lots of love going around Vancouver these days!
I woke up to a centimeter of snow outside on Saturday. I know it’s not a lot but it did manage to cover the ground entirely. When I finally got out of bed it was still snowing. What a great birthday gift from Mother Nature!
I decided it’s too beautiful outside to stay indoors (even if it’s freezing!) and ventured out with my camera to take some pictures.
I downloaded a new app called Lo-Fi which gave my photos a cool effect.
